The Kingdom Within #1902

The Kingdom Within In the name of Jesus, they gather and sing, their voices harmonizing within structures of stone and wood. These buildings, these congregations, stand as societies formed in His name, yet they are not the Kingdom of God. The essence of the Kingdom transcends the physical, the tangible, and the observable. Brick and mortar may create spaces for worship, but they do not contain the divine realm. The Kingdom of God is a sacred expanse that cannot be confined by human hands or earthly domains. It is a realm where Christ reigns, not amidst the edifices, but within the hearts of those who truly follow Him. "Lo here! or lo there!" some may exclaim, seeking signs and wonders, searching for visible evidence of the divine. But the Kingdom of God does not announce itself with grandiosity or spectacle. It comes not with observation, for it dwells silently within, a quiet force of transformation and grace. Churches stand as beacons, societies formed in the name of Jesus, yet they are distinct from the Kingdom they proclaim. The lines blur, confusion seeps in, and the faithful must discern the truth: the Kingdom of God is an inward journey, a spiritual awakening that resides within. In the stillness of the heart, where true faith abides, the Kingdom of God finds its home. It is not in the public square, nor in the grand cathedrals, but in the humble, quiet spaces within each believer. Here, in the depths of the soul, the Kingdom flourishes, unseen yet profoundly real. Let the churches be gatherings of fellowship, communities of shared faith and devotion. Yet, let every believer remember that the true Kingdom is within them, a sacred, eternal presence that transcends the structures of man. Seek not the Kingdom in the edifices of the world, but in the silent, sacred space where Christ reigns within. -Steven G. Lee (June 24, 2024)
