The Veil of Virtue and Knowledge #2061 (Poem)

The Veil of Virtue and Knowledge Beneath the sun, in endless scrolls, Words weave tales, yet none console. Virtue's sheen, a mirrored guise, In reputation’s glare, it lies. "Beware," says the ancient sage, "In boundless books, man's endless cage. For judgment waits on secret deeds, Beyond the mask, the heart it reads." Knowledge, sharp, a double blade, Sows discord where wisdom fades. Virtue, sung in hollow praise, Masks the truth in shadowed ways. In silent acts and whispered thoughts, In deeds unseen, our fate is wrought. No facade can veil the eyes Of Him who sees through all disguise. For in the end, each hidden flaw, Will stand exposed before His law. So tread with care, in truth abide, Let no false virtue be our guide. For knowledge and virtue, rightly held, Can lift the soul where truth has dwelled. Yet unchecked, they lead astray, And mar the path to righteous ways. -Steven G. Lee (June 29, 2024)
