Distinguishing the Church from the Kingdom of God #1903
Distinguishing the Church from the Kingdom of God
In the name of Jesus, they gather and sing,
Buildings and congregations, voices that ring.
Yet, in their midst, a truth we must see,
The Kingdom of God is beyond what can be.
Not brick and mortar, nor earthly domain,
But a realm within, where Christ shall reign.
Churches are societies, in His name they stand,
But the Kingdom of God, is not built by man's hand.
"Lo here! or lo there!" they may exclaim,
But the Kingdom is silent, without worldly fame.
It cometh not with observation, nor outward display,
For within you it resides, in a humble, quiet way.
Beware the confusion, the lines that blur,
Between the sacred heart and the structure that stirs.
In the stillness and spirit, where true faith abides,
There the Kingdom of God, eternally resides.
Let churches be a gathering, a fellowship true,
But know the Kingdom is within, residing in you.
Seek not in the edifices, nor in the public square,
For the Kingdom of God is found, wherever He is there.
