Liberation’s Promise: A Call to Justice #1988

Liberation’s Promise: A Call to Justice (Cry of the Oppressed: A Prose Poetry) In the heart of society, poverty and corruption gnaw relentlessly, where justice is but a distant dream. A society that turns a blind eye to the needs of its neighbors plants the seeds of peril, making life and property unsafe for all. God stands as the ultimate judge over every social system, observing the frameworks we construct. "They mistreated us," our collective voices echo through time. "They subjected us to harsh labor, to toil and suffering beneath a relentless sky." In the depths of our despair, we cried out to the Lord, the God of our ancestors. He listened to our pleas, saw our misery, our unending toil, and the oppression that weighed heavily upon us. With a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, He delivered us from our afflictions. Through signs and wonders, amidst great terror, He led us to freedom. He brought us to a place of promise, to a land He had prepared, reminding us of His unending faithfulness and power. Yet, as we stand in this land of promise, we must remember that justice is the key to our continued freedom. A society that ignores its poor is one that invites danger into every home. Ignoring the needs of the marginalized spreads fear and insecurity, threatening the very fabric of our community. Let us be vigilant, guided by love and compassion. In honoring the gift of freedom bestowed upon us by God, let us uphold justice and mercy. For in the divine judgment of our Creator, justice will never fail. The Lord brought us out with a mighty hand, into this sacred land. May we honor His gift by ensuring that justice and mercy walk hand in hand, making our society a beacon of hope and safety for all. -Steven G. Lee (June 28, 2024)
