The Shifting Sands of Faith #2076
The Shifting Sands of Faith
In a land where faith once stood tall,
Churches abound, yet hearts do fall.
Three hundred twenty thousand strong,
Yet fewer voices join the song.
Christianity’s waning tide,
Once a beacon, now set aside.
From ninety percent in days of yore,
To sixty-four, and possibly more.
The pews are less, the hearts are far,
A pandemic’s shadow, a lasting scar.
Eighty-five percent return,
Yet many hearts no longer burn.
Megachurches rise, a few still gleam,
Ten thousand souls, a weekly dream.
But smaller flocks find doors now closed,
As financial strains leave faith exposed.
Digital realms, a new domain,
Where faith attempts to rise again.
Social posts and online streams,
Yet physical bonds remain mere dreams.
Millennials drift, Boomers depart,
A changing faith, a shifting heart.
Super-mega, digital tides,
In modern sands, old faith resides.
Yet in these shifts, a story told,
Of faith reformed, yet hearts still bold.
In every loss, a chance to find,
A newer faith, a broader mind.
So let us see these changes clear,
A landscape new, yet held dear.
For in the ebb and flow of time,
Faith’s essence remains sublime.
