Nocturnal Wanderers #2049

Nocturnal Wanderers Who walks alone in the streets at night? The sad, the mad, the bad. The lost, the lonely, out of sight, The sleepless, the homeless, silently clad. All the city’s internal exiles roam, In shadows where their secrets hide, The night has always been their home, Where daylight’s dispossessed reside. The dissident, the different tread, In twilight’s dim and haunting glow, By both men and women, tears are shed, In paths where only they can go. Walking alone in the city’s embrace, Since time immemorial, it’s been seen, As signs of moral, social disgrace, Or a spirit in dereliction, unseen. But in their steps, a story’s told, Of hearts that break, of souls that fight, In the silence, their truths unfold, As they wander through the endless night. -Steven G. Lee (June 29, 2024)
