Embracing Compassion: A Christian’s Call #2083

Embracing Compassion: A Christian’s Call In sacred words, our path is shown, A call to lift the weary soul, When brothers falter, not alone, We stand together, make them whole. “If your brother becomes poor,” it says, “Support him as a friend, a guest,” In humble hearts, compassion stays, A family’s love, a sacred quest. Remember Sodom’s tale of pride, With excess, ease, and hearts grown cold, They turned from need, their love denied, In their abundance, mercy sold. But Christ’s own words, a beacon bright, “I was hungry, you gave Me food, I was thirsty, brought to light, Your kindness in My solitude. A stranger welcomed, naked clothed, The sick you healed, the prisoner seen, In acts of love, His grace enclosed, In service, glimpses of the King. Our faith is more than words we speak, In simple deeds, our gospel lives, To feed, to clothe, to help the weak, In every gift, our spirit gives. Let hearts be open, hands extend, To those in need, in pain, in fear, In lifting others, we ascend, In love’s embrace, Christ’s presence near. This journey, marked by humble grace, By mercy’s touch, by love’s refrain, In every kind and gentle face, We find our training, not in vain. So walk this path with steadfast heart, With faith, with hope, with love divine, In every act, fulfill your part, In every soul, Christ’s light will shine. -Steven G. Lee (June 30, 2024)
