Cry of the Oppressed #1989
Cry of the Oppressed
Poverty and corruption gnaw at the heart,
In lands where justice cannot play its part.
A society blind to its neighbor’s need,
Breeds peril and danger, a bitter seed.
God is the judge of all we create,
Watching over the systems we innovate.
“They mistreated us,” our voices cry,
“In toil and hardship, under harsh sky.”
We turned to the Lord, the God of our past,
In our misery and pain, His love did last.
He heard our voice, saw our deep despair,
In our toil and oppression, He was there.
With a mighty hand and an outstretched arm,
He brought us out, away from harm.
With signs and wonders, in great terror’s wake,
He led us to freedom, for His name’s sake.
To a place of promise, a land to claim,
He gave us hope, in His holy name.
Yet, we must remember, justice is the key,
To a society where all are truly free.
Ignoring the poor brings danger near,
In every life, it spreads fear.
Let us be vigilant, let love prevail,
In God’s judgment, justice will never fail.
The Lord brought us out, His power grand,
To this blessed place, this sacred land.
May we honor His gift, uphold His command,
With justice and mercy, hand in hand.
