Fragmented Identity #2046

Fragmented Identity In a land where faith once stood so tall, A fractured image shadows its call. Christian identity now wears new faces, Shaped by nationalism, partisan spaces. Racial lines and tribal binds, Socio-political ties that blind, These threads of worldly design, Stray from the sacred, divine. No longer centered in the sphere, Where culture, power, and wealth adhere. The church's voice, once strong and bright, Now fades in society's complex fight. Discipleship to Christ, a path forgotten, In the rush for power, the soul is rotten. An alternative polis, a vision blurred, Kingdom views, seldom heard. New creation, new humanity in Christ, Overlooked for earthly vice. Leaders anxious, seeking sway, In the worldly fray, they lose their way. Waning influence, power and fame, Chasing shadows, forgetting the Name. Easy to woo, with promises hollow, Forgetting the cross, they blindly follow. Oh, to return to the sacred heart, To discipleship, a renewed start. Eschatological views clear and bright, In Jesus' light, let us unite. In the humble path of the Nazarene, True identity can be seen. Not in the world's fleeting reign, But in Christ’s eternal gain. -Steven G. Lee (June 29, 2024)
