The Price of Possession: A Divine Warning Against Greed #2025

The Price of Possession: A Divine Warning Against Greed In a world of gold and silver’s gleam, Where every inch is bought and sold, A timeless truth, a sacred dream, From ancient verses, stories told. "The land shall not be sold for gain," For it belongs to God above, We tread this earth in joy and pain, As travelers, entrusted love. We buy more houses, fields to claim, In endless greed, our hearts are blind, While cries of those who have no name, Echo in the streets, confined. Doom is the fate of those who hoard, Who seek to own all they perceive, In greed, their souls become ignored, And darkness weaves a web of grief. Yet scripture calls us to return, To live as sojourners once more, To cherish land, with love to learn, And see it as a sacred store. The earth is His, the heavens too, Not ours to claim, but ours to tend, In humility, strength we renew, And with the land, our spirits mend. For wealth does not define our worth, But love we bear, the deeds we sow, The price of greed, a barren earth, But stewardship makes blessings grow. With open hearts, let’s heed the call, To live as stewards, share the land, Find joy in caring for us all, And build a world where all can stand. Amen. -Steven G. Lee (June 29, 2024)
