In the Land Where Truth Has Fled #1978
In the Land Where Truth Has Fled
In a land stripped bare, where truth has fled,
Whispers of devotion are but shadows, dead.
No knowledge of God graces this terrain,
Only the scars of deceit, a populace in pain.
Curses echo in the hollows of the night,
Lies weave through streets, veiling right.
Murder's hand, unsteady and vile,
Paints the ground red, mile after mile.
Stealing breaths and dreams alike,
While adulterous whispers taint the twilight.
Bloodshed upon bloodshed, a relentless tide,
In every heart, darkness does reside.
The altars lay forgotten, overgrown,
Thorns and weeds claim them as their own.
Voices rise to the mountains so steep,
"Hide us," they cry, "in your shadows deep."
"Hills, cover us!" the lost souls plea,
From the weight of their sins, they wish to flee.
Yet escape is a specter in the night,
For in their hearts, they've shuttered the light.
So they wander, lost, in a wilderness of pain,
Where truth and love once reigned, now remain
Only echoes of what was pure and right,
In the land where darkness swallowed the light.
