Silent Steps of the Forgotten #2047

Silent Steps of the Forgotten In the heart of the city, beneath night’s shroud, Silent wanderers tread, unseen by the crowd. The sad, the mad, the lost, the lonely, The sleepless, the homeless, shadows only. By daylight shunned, in darkness they find A sanctuary where judgment is blind. Dissidents and different, in twilight they roam, Night's embrace becomes their home. Their stories whisper through empty streets, Tales of sorrow, regret, and silent beats. The sad with unseen tears, the mad with chaotic stride, The misunderstood bad, in shadows they hide. The lost seeking paths in a world so vast, The lonely yearning for connections to last. The sleepless counting hours, the homeless dreaming, Under the sky's expanse, their hearts still gleaming. In this nocturnal dance, they find resilience, Silent steps in defiance, quiet brilliance. Their solitude reveals strength untold, In their silence, a voice, strong and bold. Under the starlit sky, their presence known, In deepest shadows, light has grown. A tapestry of sorrow, hope, and grace, Each step, a testament in night’s embrace. Let us remember, as we see them roam, The night embraces them, they're never alone. With empathy and light, may we understand, The dignity and humanity in each silent stand. -Steven G. Lee (June 29, 2024)
