The Heart's True Reflection #1885
The Heart's True Reflection
Better the world should know you as a sinner
than the Lord of Spirit knows you as hypocrite.
For the façade of purity is a hollow winner,
A mask that shrouds the soul's true writ.
“These people honor me with their lips,” said He,
“But their hearts are far from me,” echoing the Divine.
In the temple of truth, let pretense be,
For sincerity's glow will ever shine.
Speak not with gilded tongue and empty praise,
But let the heart's fervor ignite the word.
In the quiet of repentance, humbly raise
A prayer unfeigned, pure, and undeterred.
Better to walk the path known as flawed,
Than to wear a guise in spiritual disguise.
For God sees beyond the acclaim and the applaud,
To where genuine love and contrition lie.
So strip away the layers of deceit,
And let the heart's truth be revealed.
For in the eyes of the Lord, complete
Is the soul that’s honest, healed, and sealed.
Honor with lips, but more so with the heart,
For in this union, the Spirit finds its part.
