A Call to Authentic Sabbath Worship #1884 (Poem)
A Call to Authentic Sabbath Worship
In the hush of sacred rest, we seek,
A Sabbath true, where hearts can speak.
Not just in song or solemn prayer,
But in the love and justice we bear.
Worship that stands, hands open wide,
Embracing those the world denied.
A phony Sabbath, we cannot claim,
If neighbor’s need is met with blame.
Cease your toil, let burdens fall,
Heed the ancient, holy call.
Withdraw from Pharaoh’s anxious grip,
Find peace in YHWH’s fellowship.
Sabbath, more than rituals grand,
A time to pause, to understand.
It’s in the stopping, in the still,
We break the chains of endless will.
No longer driven by production’s might,
We seek the dawn of Sabbath light.
Where lives are not for gain or greed,
But for the love in every deed.
So let our worship rise and blend,
With justice, mercy, without end.
For in this rest, our souls align,
With YHWH’s heart, both yours and mine.
A call to Sabbath, pure and true,
In every act, in all we do.
Not just in worship’s solemn guise,
But in the love that never dies.
