The Cross: Where Wisdom and Folly Meet #1916

The Cross: Where Wisdom and Folly Meet In the marketplace of worldly praise, Where intellect and reason blaze, A symbol stands, both stark and bold, A story of wisdom, timeless, told. The cross, an instrument of shame, In death and loss, proclaims His name. To those who see with earthly eyes, It’s foolishness, a great disguise. But for the faithful, it’s the key, Unlocking truth that sets us free. God’s power in this symbol lies, A paradox that never dies. Paul’s words invite us to embrace, A foolishness, a state of grace. To be a fool for Christ, we’re called, In humble faith, we’re thus enthralled. Let go of pride, of worldly gain, Find strength in loss, and joy in pain. In weakness, God’s great power flows, In suffering, His mercy shows. This divine folly, we proclaim, In Jesus’ cross, we find our name. A wisdom deeper than the wise, A light that shines through darkest skies. In loving enemies, we learn, Forgiveness is the bridge we burn, To find the way to God’s own heart, In every trial, a fresh start. The cross, a beacon, leads our way, In loss, we find new life each day. In Christ, we see the truth revealed, God’s wisdom, to the world concealed. So let us stand, in faith made strong, Embrace the cross, where we belong. For in this paradox, we find, God’s love and grace for all mankind. With courage, walk this sacred path, In every sorrow, joy will last. The wisdom of the cross we share, A hope for all, beyond compare. -Steven G. Lee (June 24, 2024)
