The Evolution of Belief #1891
The Evolution of Belief
(The Journey of Faith)
By Galilee's tranquil waters, in the first century’s light,
A community of believers gathered, hearts humble and bright.
Faith bloomed in simplicity, a gentle, pure flower,
In the shadow of the lake, nourished by love's power.
To Greece it journeyed, where thinkers and scholars reside,
Philosophy embraced faith, expanding its tide.
Simple beliefs turned profound, wisdom intertwined,
In the land of reason, truth seekers combined.
Next to Rome, where mighty institutions stood tall,
Faith became an edifice within marble halls.
Rituals and doctrines, solid and grand,
Yet distant from the humble shores where it began.
Across the seas to Europe, faith wove into culture’s thread,
Traditions, art, and music, where sacredness was spread.
Cathedrals rose high, folklore and custom grew,
In every stroke of life, faith’s essence shone through.
Finally, to America, in capitalism’s embrace,
Faith became a business, dreams sold in a busy marketplace.
In the dance of profit and loss, sacred intertwined,
Faith risked losing essence, in pursuit of gold aligned.
Yet, through ages and lands, faith's essence remains,
In the hearts where true belief, untainted, sustains.
From shores of Galilee to modern times we face,
Faith’s pure, simple bloom finds its eternal place.
In our hearts, it thrives, a testament so true,
Beyond philosophy, institution, culture, commerce too.
Let us cherish this journey, keep faith alive and bright,
Rooted in divine truth, shining with love’s pure light.
