The Enemy of the Self The enemy of the self is not suffering, It's idolatry, turning to worship For the self projected and objectified (Ex 20:4), A heart seeking security and meaning In something or someone (Ex 20:5), Other than God's Love and Will. Love God and others as yourself, For all idolization is self-idolization, Every heart happy in idolatry is evil. You shall not make for yourself an idol (Ex 20:4-6; Dt 5:8-10). Idolatry is when you worship what you should use, And use what you should worship (Gilbert K.C.), A perversion of divine order, a deceit of the soul.
