One Good Sun: First in Our Heavens #1927

One Good Sun: First in Our Heavens Beneath the vast canvas of the cosmos, where stars are scattered like grains of sand tossed by the breath of eternity, there reigns a singular truth, a beacon—One Good Sun, first in our heavens. This luminary, unmatched and unrivaled in its warmth, casts its golden threads over the tapestry of our days, mirroring the celestial declaration, "Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is, God." As I tread upon this spinning sphere, wrapped in the embrace of that persistent light, the question echoes—resonating through the corridors of my conscience, "Why do we seek goodness in the transient, the fleeting shadows that fade with the day?" In every sunrise, in every moment the sun ascends, it speaks of the One good, our eternal flame. This goodness, which we chase in the whispers of the wind and the silence of the dark, where does it reside but in the heart of the Divine? It is He, the source, like our sun in the heavens, illuminating the paths we walk—paths strewn with our attempts at goodness, our small acts of kindness, our fragile human virtues. Yet, above us, the Sun endures, impartial and steadfast, a constant reminder of the enduring nature of true goodness. It is a goodness not of this world, but of a realm where purity is the air, grace the water, and truth the soil—where all that grows is good because it is rooted in the Divine. And so, in the soft glow of dawn, I ponder these celestial musings, drawn to the higher call that resonates from the scripture’s depth. Each ray of light, a verse from the narrative of creation, teaches us that in the quest for what is truly good, we must look beyond ourselves, beyond our deeds and desires. We must look up, always up, to the One Good, the first in our heavens, the last in our nights, the eternal in our fleeting lives. -Steven G. Lee (June 24, 2024)
