Homelessness: A Man-Made Paradox #1874

Homelessness: A Man-Made Paradox Poverty is not an accident, It's crafted by the hands of men, A system built, a flawed design, Where hope and struggle intertwine. They speak of ending homelessness, Yet actions create more distress, A paradox, a cruel game, Where promises and failures reign. I've walked the streets without a home, Worked endless shifts, yet still alone, At gas stations, day and night, Invisible in society's sight. Homelessness, no crime or plight, But a cry for economic right, For justice in a world so vast, Where shadows of inequity cast. Economic justice, a beacon bright, In the realm of social fight, Moral principles, strong and true, For every life, for me, for you. To build a world where each can rise, With dignity, before our eyes, A chance to thrive, create, and dream, Not just survive within the scheme. So let us tear the structures down, That chain the poor and cause them frown, Build anew with heart and grace, A just and equitable place. -Steven G. Lee (June 21, 2024)
