The Struggle for Truth #1731

The Struggle for Truth In the cloak of night, deceit does reign, Truth pushed back, justice in pain. Righteousness stands at a distance so wide, In the shadows, honesty hides. Stumbling, truth roams the open streets, Vulnerable, exposed, where chaos meets. No pockets to hide, no safe retreat, Wailing softly in the face of defeat. Friend deceives friend, tongues taught to lie, In a world where falsehoods fly. Weary souls with sin so rife, Deception wears the mask of life. A prophet's words, a king's might, Allies in chaos, a troubling sight. Media and ads, in tangled embrace, Truth becomes a lost, forlorn face. People struggle, torn between, Reality and what is seen. Truth discarded, silenced, hushed, In the noise, it’s cruelly crushed. But echoing in the silence deep, Is a promise, a call to keep. "You will know the truth," He said, "And the truth will set you free," it’s read. Loss of trust, integrity torn, Moral standards, badly worn. Spiritual lives, in decline, As truth becomes so hard to find. Yet in the search, a beacon glows, A guiding light that ever shows. To uphold truth, to seek and fight, For a world where honesty is right. In every heart, let truth reside, In every action, let it guide. For in the struggle, in the strife, Truth is the way, the light, the life. -Steven G. Lee (June 9, 2024)
