The Fires We Face #1688
The Fires We Face
Where there are homeless, there are tents,
Fragile shelters in uncertain times.
Where there is smoke in tents, there is fire,
A blaze consuming, merciless, and relentless,
For fire is never a gentle master who knows mercy.
We stand together in our streets and homes,
Determined to heal the wounds of those
Who dwell in a post-apocalyptic world.
Our ministry, a beacon of hope,
Seeks to alleviate poverty's sting
Without deepening the scars of the poor,
On the outskirts of society's grasp.
"Everything is falling apart;
Threats and cheating are rampant in the streets.
It is not an enemy who taunts me—I could bear that.
It is not my foes who so arrogantly insult me—
I could have hidden from them.
Instead, it is you—my equal,
My companion and close friend.
What good fellowship we once enjoyed
As we walked together to the house of God."
In this broken world, let us restore the bonds,
Rekindle the flames of compassion and unity,
And walk together once more,
Hand in hand,
Toward the house of God,
Where healing and hope await.
