The Fast I Desire The kind of fasting I want is this: Remove the chains of oppression and the yoke of injustice, Let the oppressed go free, And open your homes to the homeless poor. Break the bonds that bind the weak, Lift the heavy burdens of those in need, Extend your hands to help your own, Do not turn away from your kin. Then, like the morning sun, My favor will shine upon you, Your wounds will be swiftly healed, My presence will surround you always.
