The Dance of Idols and Devotion #1849

The Dance of Idols and Devotion In the shadows cast by silver and gold, Where pride and greed weave tales untold, Idols rise, with mouths that cannot speak, Eyes that cannot see, hearts too frail and weak. They lure with promises, glittering and bright, Yet deaf to truth, they shroud the Light. Gluttonous for worship, they crave the soul's embrace, But distance us from the Spirit's grace. In the temple's hush, where offerings abound, A widow's humble gift, in silence, profound. For she gave not from wealth or worldly gain, But from a heart where true devotion reigns. Oh, Spirit of the Living God, reignite the fire, Burn away our idols, our every false desire. May our hearts, cleansed by Your holy flame, Find You alone, our Savior, our eternal aim. In repentance, we turn from idols' deceit, To worship You, in Spirit, pure and complete. For in Your presence, we find life's true worth, Beyond all idols, in Heaven's boundless mirth. -Steven G.
