Mirror of the Hypocrite #1676

Mirror of the Hypocrite What does this question truly mean? In our tangled world, it is seen, A reflection in the mirror, stark, Of a truth we often overlook in the dark. In the New Testament, Jesus spoke, Of hypocrites whose mirrors broke, Showing not their true, contrite face, But a façade filled with empty grace. Today's reality mirrors this plight, Where the strong bend laws to their might, With lawyers by their side they stand, While the weak are crushed, displaced, unmanned. "Lord, why are wicked men so blessed? Why does dishonesty bring success?" Jeremiah’s words echo through time, Injustice rampant, an ancient rhyme. The prosperous wicked, a bitter sight, Their fruits of labor, a hollow delight, They praise with lips but not with heart, Their care for You a mere false start. A fundamental critique of moral code, Where justice is often a heavy load, The poor and weak bear the brunt, While the mighty lead the hunt. In today's world, the mirror's clear, Reflecting a truth we must hold dear, To stand for justice, speak for the meek, To find the strength that we must seek. To understand and apply this sight, We must embrace what’s truly right, Not just in words but in our deeds, Planting justice with righteous seeds. So let us question, let us see, The mirror’s truth and hypocrisy, And strive to build a world more fair, With genuine love and earnest care. -Steven G. Lee (June 7, 2024)
