Embrace of the True Shepherd #1897
Embrace of the True Shepherd
(The Shepherd's Call)
Who is the Shepherd, true and kind,
Guarding His flock, with peace in mind?
Not thieves nor robbers, shadows creep,
But Jesus, door to all His sheep.
“Assuredly,” He says with grace,
“I am the door, this sacred place.”
The Good Shepherd, love profound,
Gives His life, care unbound.
Many voices, leading stray,
Leaving us lost, in disarray.
The hireling flees, leaves us alone,
But Jesus stays, His love well-known.
Father knows Him, He knows the Father,
Love's testament, unlike any other.
One flock, one guide, hear His voice,
In His embrace, we rejoice.
Paul echoes, “Count all things loss,
Knowing Christ, gain through the cross.”
Kingdom’s worth, glory’s light,
Path found in the Shepherd’s sight.
Hear His call, voice clear, true,
Life renewed, we pursue.
One flock, one Shepherd, grace embraced,
In His love, forever placed.
Not just to follow, but transform,
Lay down lives, hearts reformed.
Shed pretension, self-reliance,
Find true self, in His guidance.
Guide, protector, path, light,
Through trials, shadows, bright.
Beloved sheep, chosen, dear,
In His care, no need for fear.
Oneness called, unity found,
Strength, peace, love abound.
Sacrifice, life everlasting,
Eternal embrace, forever basking.
Heed His call, follow His lead,
In His safety, every need.
Strive to live this daily call,
Knowing Christ, surpassing all.
