Defiance of the Divine #1962

Defiance of the Divine In the shadowed valleys of human plight, Where injustice feeds, voracious, unchecked, The echo of a voice, firm and clear, Cuts through the dark, "Away from me, Satan!" A declaration in the wilderness spoken, A refutation of a vile offer made: “All this I will give you, if you but bow," Temptation vast, yet hollow at its core. The world, a stage for greed's insidious dance, Whispers of power, kingdoms of dust, Yet one stands firm on hallowed ground, Rejecting the transient for the eternal crown. His feet planted where hope and despair collide, Amidst the chaos, a clarion call resounds, Not for riches that tarnish or fade, But for streams of justice, relentless and unafraid. "Let justice roll on like a river," A prophet’s cry from ancient days, And righteousness like an ever-flowing stream, To cleanse, to heal, to break oppression's chains. For what is offered in the shadow of deceit, Is naught compared to what righteousness conceives. In every heart, the battle lines are drawn, Between the lure of evil and the dawn of right. Yet still, the promise echoes, age to age, A kingdom built not on subjugation’s might, But on the backs of those who choose the light, Declaring, ever bold, "Away from me, Satan!" A call to arms, in the cosmic fight, For justice, for truth, for the holy and the right. -Steven G. Lee (June 26, 2024)
