Barefoot on Sacred Ground #1956
Barefoot on Sacred Ground
In the whisper of a sacred flame,
Voices of old spoke a command:
"Remove thy sandals, worn by sands,
For holy is the ground you claim."
Beneath the soles, the earth did breathe,
A holy carpet laid beneath,
Where prophets stood, and angels greet,
In places high, beyond the heath.
Journeyed far, these feet have worn,
Through desert's heat and storm's scorn,
Patched and tired, yet onward borne,
Towards the land where hope is born.
With provisions dry, and spirits tried,
The humble walked, no pride to hide,
Their sandals cracked, yet strides abide,
By faith’s pure stream, they’re sanctified.
How beautiful then, these feet that roam,
Across the valleys, towards the dome
Of heaven’s gate, their humble home,
Proclaiming peace where'er they comb.
For every step on dusty trails,
Echoes the Good News that prevails,
Of love and mercy that never fails,
A gospel song that fills the sails.
So take your shoes off, feel the ground,
Where sacred whispers and grace abound,
For those who seek, have truly found,
The path where heaven's blessings sound.
