The Parable of Wealth and Wisdom #80
The Parable of Wealth and Wisdom
In a realm where gold glints and gleams,
Lived a man, rich beyond dreams.
His wealth, a cloak of identity tight,
In its threads, his very essence alight.
"Your coins, your jewels, your endless hoard,
Give to the poor," spoke the Lord.
"Then in heaven, find your treasure true,
Follow me, for a path anew."
Yet, in the rich man's heart, a quiver,
At the thought of his wealth asunder, delivered.
His sorrow, his reluctance, a mirror clear,
Of a soul tethered to riches so dear.
But hark, the Teacher, of truths profound,
Spoke of a worth not earthly bound.
"In fields and pearls, the kingdom lies,
Where true treasure, in joy, defies."
Heaven's riches, not in coffers kept,
But in a heart where compassion slept.
"A life's worth, not in abundance told,
But in love and grace, manifold."
Beware, the gold's seductive song,
That lures to paths of sin and wrong.
The rich man saw wealth as his fate's end,
While Jesus warned, it could but bend.
Two visions, stark in contrast bold,
One in earthly riches rolled,
The other, in destiny's true embrace,
Beyond the glint of gold's false grace.
