Beyond Idolatry: A Quest for the Soul #159
Beyond Idolatry: A Quest for the Soul
In the quiet depths where hearts and souls entwine,
A quest unfolds, our true selves to find.
Beneath the weight of gold and worldly gain,
A whisper calls, to consider what remains.
For what is wealth, but fleeting shadows cast?
When souls are weighed, and mortal days have passed.
Christ's voice resounds, a challenge pure and clear,
"What profits man, if loss of soul is near?"
The paradox of life, a truth divine,
To save our selves, we must our lives resign.
In surrender lies the path to truest life,
Beyond the grasp of idol's strife.
Upon the cross, a sacrifice was made,
The chains of idol worship there to fade.
Christ bore our sins, from earthly idols freed,
To show the way, His love our only creed.
First commandment calls, with love to God align,
Above all else, His will not to decline.
This love, a beacon, guiding every soul,
To place no idol on its sacred scroll.
Through trials and tribulations, we may find,
A love for others, leaving self behind.
This journey, though with suffering interspersed,
Leads to God's will, where thirsty souls are nursed.
So let us walk, with eyes on things above,
Where true life dwells, in God's unending love.
Forsaking idols, tangible and not,
Embracing love, our souls' eternal lot.
