Between Gold and Grace: A Tale of Two Values #81
Between Gold and Grace: A Tale of Two Values
In a world of gold and gleam,
A rich man dreams his earthly dream.
Wealth, his heart's relentless theme,
Rooted deep, a flowing stream.
Yet in this tapestry of life,
Where riches stir both joy and strife,
Speaks a voice, serene and rife,
Cutting through like a sharpened knife.
"Release your gold, your jewels, your lands,
Lay them down from grasping hands.
Give to the poor, your heart expands,
Find your treasure in heaven's sands."
These words, a call from Nazareth's son,
Jesus, the humble, the Anointed One.
A challenge to the wealthy, the powerful, done,
To see beyond what the earth has spun.
For life, He says, is not in things,
Not in the wealth that fortune brings.
But in the spirit, on soaring wings,
In heaven's joy, where the true heart sings.
He speaks of pearls and hidden troves,
Of kingdoms beyond the earthly coves.
Where true value forever roves,
Beyond the reach of worldly loves.
A stark contrast, a divided road,
One of wealth, one of heavenly abode.
The rich man stands, his heart a heavy load,
Bound to earth, to his golden code.
Yet Jesus warns, with gentle might,
Of wealth's deceit, its blinding sight.
A barrier to the soul's true flight,
To the purpose grand, in heaven's light.
So in this tale of two paths wide,
Of earthly wealth and heaven's pride,
Lies a choice deep inside,
Where true worth and purpose reside.
