At the Round Table of Communion #607
At the Round Table of Communion
In the hallowed glow of tradition's embrace,
Where the echoes of ancient prayers still trace,
A vision stirs, a modern grace:
The Eucharist, reimagined in a sacred space.
No longer bound by the long table's linear reach,
Where one head presides, and sermons teach,
But around a circle where all souls meet,
Equal in the light, in the bread we break and eat.
Inspired by Arthur, of legend and lore,
His knights in unity, in equality they swore.
So, might we gather, from shore to shore,
At a round table, where love and grace pour.
This is not merely a change of seat,
But a profound shift, where heartbeats meet.
In the circle, no hierarchy, no defeat,
Only a communal rhythm, a divine heartbeat.
Where every voice finds a space to sing,
Where every sorrow, joy, and offering,
Is welcomed as the bells of heaven ring,
And in our unity, we let freedom ring.
It's a call to embrace, in worship's flow,
The values of now, the seeds we sow.
Inclusivity, equality, let them grow,
As around the round table, our spirits glow.
In this circle, let us find our prayer,
A new communion, in the air we share.
Breaking bread, in the circle's care,
Finding God, in the sacred square.
So let us gather, from far and wide,
At the round table, side by side.
In equality's embrace, let us abide,
And in this unity, let our spirits glide.
