Reflections in the Light of Christ #487
Reflections in the Light of Christ
In today's sanctuaries, where commerce and sacred blend,
We stand at crossroads, with Jesus' legacy to comprehend.
His stance against the money changers, his path to the cross,
Calls us to reflect, to align our practices with His cause.
The Challenge of Commercialization
Jesus once stood firm, against trade in holy spaces,
Today, we face the lure of material, in spiritual places.
Merchandise, donations, overshadowing our divine mission,
Seeking a balance, a path of true spiritual commission.
Authority and Leadership
Jesus, the humble shepherd, leadership's truest form,
In contrast to today's hierarchies, often the norm.
He washed the feet of followers, led with love and humility,
A model for leaders, to guide with similar simplicity.
Social Justice and Inclusivity
Jesus embraced the outcast, his arms wide open,
Challenging us to do the same, with hearts unbroken.
To be a refuge for all, in love and justice to invest,
Breaking down barriers, in His inclusivity to rest.
Authenticity in Faith
Jesus lived a faith genuine, raw, and real,
Against performative piety, His true zeal.
Challenging us to live our faith, beyond mere action,
A journey with God, filled with passion and satisfaction.
Reflection and Call
This is not a journey of ease, but of profound questioning,
Aligning our practices with Christ, a constant beckoning.
To grow, to change, embodying His teachings anew,
In a world different, yet the same, to His message stay true.
As we reflect on Christ's light, in the complexities we face,
May we find a faith alive, a beacon of His grace.
A testament to His enduring power and relevance,
In every act, every breath, a reflection of His essence.
