Living in the Likeness of Christ: Fulfilling Our Divine Mission #449

Living in the Likeness of Christ: Fulfilling Our Divine Mission In the hallowed whispers of the Gospel, a call resounds, Echoing through the corridors of time and soul— To mirror the walk of Christ, in every step, profound, A journey not of ease but of a divine role. With humility as our mantle, and service our stride, We tread the path of Jesus, where love and sacrifice collide. For in the likeness of His humility, in the shadow of His grace, We find our purpose, our calling, a holy embrace. Philippians speaks of a mind in Christ, a servant’s heart, A call to live beyond ourselves, from selfish wants depart. And Peter, with fervor, reminds us of the footsteps to trace, Of suffering and purity, in our Savior's grace. Go forth, commands Matthew, to nations far and wide, Baptizing in the name of the Father, with the Spirit as our guide. Teaching, loving, guiding, in every act and decree, For in doing so, Christ’s presence forever shall be. John whispers of works greater, in the Spirit’s power, we’ll find, Miracles not of our making, but of a love most kind. Commands kept, love shared, in His name, we boldly stand, Guided by the Comforter, on holy ground we land. Galatians paints the fruit of a life led by the Spirit’s fire, Love, joy, peace, and patience, virtues that never tire. Against such things, there is no law, no chain that can bind, For in the Spirit’s freedom, our true selves we find. This is our mission, our divine quest to fulfill, To live in the likeness of Christ, to bend to the Father’s will. Not by might, nor by power, but by the Spirit, we proceed, For in emulating Jesus, we plant Heaven’s seed. So let us walk, let us love, in the footsteps of the One, Who called us out of darkness, into the light of the Son. In every moment, every breath, let His love be our mission, For living in the likeness of Christ is our divine commission. Written by Steven G. Lee (March 1, 2024)
