Echoes of Compassion: Serving the Heart of Jesus #278

Echoes of Compassion: Serving the Heart of Jesus In the whispers of the wind, in the silence between words, A call to the faithful, a message unheard. "Foxes have their dens, birds their nests above, But the Son of Man wanders, in search of love." "Lord, when did we see You, hungry, in need, Or thirsty, without comfort, Your voice to heed? When were You a stranger, we took to our side, Or naked, we clothed, in our hearts to abide? When did we see You, sick, in pain to console, Or in prison, alone, and visited Your soul?" These questions, like echoes, in the night do roam, For in serving the least, we guide Jesus home. The Spirit, a teacher, with eternal signs, Guides us to compassion, where His love shines. Jesus, with no place, His head to rest, Calls us to serve, to give our best. To the hungry, the naked, the sick, and the lost, To love without measure, no matter the cost. For in each act of kindness, in each deed we do, We find Jesus among us, His presence true. "Foxes have holes, and birds their nests to claim, But I walk beside you, in your joy and your pain." So let us reach out, let our hearts embrace, The least of these, in every time and place. For in loving the forgotten, the hurt, and the small, We answer Jesus' call, we answer it all. This poem, a prayer, for the eyes to see, Jesus in the least, in you and in me. -Written by Steven G. Lee (February 11, 2024)
