Echoes of Compassion: A Prose Poetry on the Golden Rule #379
Echoes of Compassion: A Prose Poetry on the Golden Rule
In the heart of the city's hustle,
Beneath the skyscrapers' towering muscle,
There lies a truth, simple and clear,
Echoing through the canyons of steel, for those who hear.
"Love your enemies," so the passage goes,
"Do good to those who oppose.
Bless, don't curse, pray for the abuser,
Offer your cheek, be the chooser
Of peace over conflict, grace over retribution,
In every act, seek a compassionate solution.
To the one in need, extend your hand,
For in giving, you truly understand
The essence of the Golden Rule's demand:
Do unto others, as on yourself you'd command.
This isn't merely about the law's letter,
But a deeper call to do better,
To see beyond the surface, the exterior,
And recognize in each other, a mirror.
Imagine a world where this principle reigns,
Where compassion breaks all chains.
No need for licenses to express care,
For in our hearts, this truth we bear:
That kindness, unregulated, free and fair,
Is the most powerful way to repair.
Let this prose be a beacon, a guiding light,
Inspiring acts of love, both day and night.
May we embody these words, in all our might,
Creating a world where every soul takes flight.
In the simplicity of giving, we find our wealth,
In the dignity of others, our own self's health.
So, let us live by this rule, both in secret and stealth,
For in loving our neighbor, we discover our true self.
