Echoes of the Sacred: A Call to Reclaim the Heart of Worship #316

Echoes of the Sacred: A Call to Reclaim the Heart of Worship In the heart of worship, where silence speaks louder than gold, We find our sanctuary not in opulence, but in the stories untold. "Reclaiming the Soul of the Church," a journey we embark, Navigating through capitalism's shadow, seeking a divine spark. Amidst the clatter of coins and the whispers of wealth, The church stands at a crossroads, its soul in stealth. For what are riches, if not mere stones in the river of time, When the true treasure lies in the prayer, in the sublime? We've wandered far, into the marketplace of faith, Where spirituality is sold, and dogma wraith. But the call to return echoes in the void, To a place where community and love are not alloyed. In worship, let consumerism find its defeat, In the humble gatherings, where hearts and spirits meet. For the church is not a business, trading salvation for fees, But a beacon of hope, in the stormy seas. The marginalized, the forgotten, in their eyes a story, A testament to the church's lost glory. For in their faces, we see Christ anew, A reminder of the mission, pure and true. Let us not measure our faith in numbers and gold, But in the lives touched, and the stories told. For the wealth of the church lies not in its coffers, But in its ability to fill the soul's offers. In the silence of prayer, the truth we find, A call to action, to be loving and kind. To reclaim the soul of the church, a task divine, Navigating capitalism, with a vision benign. Let the church be a house of prayer, not a den for thieves, A sanctuary for all, where the weary heart believes. For in the embrace of community, and the act of giving, We find the true essence of living. So let us journey together, with faith as our guide, Through the valleys of doubt, and the tides of pride. "Reclaiming the Soul of the Church," our collective plea, To live out our faith, truly free. -Written by Steven G. Lee (February 16, 2024)
