Subject: In the Balance of Wealth and Compassion #401*

Subject: In the Balance of Wealth and Compassion Beneath the veil of the night, where dreams and reality blur, lies a tale of two worlds. In one, the top ten, with hands clasped around 66.6 percent of our collective treasure, stand atop a mountain of gold, their shadows long in the setting sun. Below, the other fifty, hands empty, clutch at the remaining 2.6, a mere dusting of silver on an endless plain. From the ancient echoes of Mengzi's wisdom, a call rings out across the ages—specialize, focus, but above all, serve with righteousness. For what good is a servant who fills his pockets with the community's coin, under the guise of duty, when the essence of leadership is to uplift, to protect, to serve the people over profit? And then, a whisper from the sands of time, a parable of a Samaritan, his heart a beacon in the night. Compassion, the thread that binds us, the first and last, the alpha and omega of our journey. "For those who are last shall be first, and the first, last," a promise, a warning, a prophecy from the lips of the divine. Let this be our compass, our north star in the quest for justice and equity. In the grand tapestry of existence, may we weave threads of mercy, kindness, and understanding. Let us challenge the norms, question the values that crown wealth as king, and ask—could we not build a kingdom of hearts instead? In the silence that follows the storm, let us find our answer. May we, the architects of tomorrow, choose the path less trodden, where the measure of wealth is not gold, but the warmth of a helping hand, the light of a compassionate soul. So, let this prose be a beacon, a lighthouse for the weary sailor in the night. In the balance of wealth and compassion, may we tip the scales towards love, towards a world where the last can be the first, in the truest, most beautiful sense. Written by Steven G.
