Shadows and Light: The Cross's Call #387*

Shadows and Light: The Cross's Call Beneath the cross's shadow, where silence reigns, A profound paradox, where the sacred deigns. Life and death, in their eternal dance, Challenge the soul to take a stance. In the embrace of wood, where sky is kissed, Lies a mystery, in the morning mist. Nails and flesh, in somber rites, Reveal a path to unfathomed heights. Here, where eternity's dawn is whispered soft, The lamb, in silence, bore aloft. Life, more than breath; death, not the end, Threads in a tapestry, heaven-sent to mend. "Take up thy cross," echoes in the breeze, In its weight, a peculiar ease. Fall like grain, let the old self die, For in this death, life's truths lie. The kingdom of God, hidden yet clear, Is found through the cross, ever near. A bridge between worlds, the crucified, Where earth and heaven are unified. The cross, our guide, through night and day, In its shadow, we find our way. Through death, life's beauty is confessed, In surrender, our souls are blessed. So we journey, with the cross leading on, Exploring depths where light has shone. In its shadow, true life we embrace, And in its promise, we find grace. Written by Steven G. Lee (February 24, 2024)
