Harvest of the Spirit #395
Harvest of the Spirit
In this era's shadow, where values crumble, decay,
A culture evolves, marching towards dismay.
The city's cries, in Psalmist echoes, lay bare—
Violence, destruction, a ubiquitous despair.
Historic patterns of exclusion, tales retold,
Sundown cities, ugly laws, discrimination bold.
From past to present, the marginalized face
Laws that criminalize poverty, a disgrace.
Yet, amidst the darkness, a contrasting light,
Jesus chose the outcast, in weakness, His might.
A ragtag team, uneducated, society's fringe,
In their emptiness, God's strength begins to hinge.
Called to bear fruits of the Spirit, a divine appeal,
Love, joy, peace, against the darkness, we wield.
Patience, kindness, goodness, faith's gentle call,
Gentleness, self-control, to uplift us all.
This path of renewal, a challenge to our sight,
To embrace vulnerability, in God's power, fight.
A call to action, to love, to inclusively bind,
Reflecting God’s love, leaving no one behind.
As we sow seeds of compassion, let us start
To cultivate a community with a loving heart.
In unity and hope, our spirits entwine,
Towards a future where divine grace shines.
