Compassion Unbound #185

Compassion Unbound Across the street, across the world, The essence of compassion, tightly furled. A paradox in the human heart, Loving from afar, yet close, we part. The bowl within, the bowl without, Imperfections circle round about. Boundaries of our love, so near, so far, Remind us who we truly are. A tale once told by Jesus, clear, The Good Samaritan draws near. Not by the ones expected to stand, But by the stranger's helping hand. "Who was the neighbor, kind and just?" The one who showed mercy, in whom to trust. "Go and do likewise," the directive strong, A simple command, yet a journey long. A call to love, not just in word, But in every action seen and heard. To bridge the gap, to mend the seam, To love each neighbor, not just in dream. For true compassion knows no bound, In every heart, it must be found. Across the street, across the world, Let the essence of love be unfurled. -Written by Steven G. Lee (February 2, 2024)
