The Path of Humble Service: A Prose Poem #1222

The Path of Humble Service: A Prose Poem (The Mantle of Christ) Let us take up the same attitude that Christ Jesus wore like a mantle, woven with threads of divine humility. He gazed not inward toward his own interests but turned his face outward, looking beyond himself toward others, drawing them into the light of his boundless love. Let this mind be in you which was also in him: Though he stood in God's radiant form, he reached down, bending low, not to hold tightly to equality with God, but to offer himself in selfless service to the weary, the burdened, the outcast. By actions that echo God’s will, by words that mirror his truth, may we light a path toward life eternal and beckon those lost along the way. “Who is greater: the one who sits at the table, or the one who serves? Surely, the one seated is greater, but not here! Here, I kneel among you as one who serves,” said Jesus. In humble service, true greatness breathes. May we walk this path, in compassion and selflessness, leading with hearts gentle and bold, taking up the mantle of Christ to be a light in the darkness. Written by Steven G. Lee (May 7, 2024)
