Breaking the Chains #1475

Breaking the Chains In the labyrinth of thought, we wander lost, Entangled in webs by our own minds tossed. Hierarchies rise like ancient trees, Roots deep in tradition, culture, creed. Slavery's chains, once iron and cold, Now invisible, yet tight they hold. Mental bondage passed through ages, Sustained by sacred, profane pages. Religion, a blade with double edges, Light and shadow, hope and pledges. Its words twist to subjugate souls, Divine orders that take their tolls. Yet within our hearts, a fire burns bright, Yearning for freedom, for equal light. In shared humanity, power we find, To break the chains that bind the mind. Confront biases, inherited lies, See through illusions, seek the skies. Our cognition, flawed and structural, A problem deep, yet resolvable. The future calls with a promise clear, But past remnants still bring fear. Mental slavery stifles our dream, Unshackle the mind, let true freedom gleam. Not merely dreams of progress to keep, But dismantling bonds, both wide and deep. Into the light of freedom stride, Where every soul stands side by side. Chains of the past dissolve away, A testament to our brighter day. Collective journey, liberation's song, In unity, we find where we belong. Written by Steven G. Lee (May 24, 2024)
