The Light of Voluntary Devotion #1509
The Light of Voluntary Devotion
(Voluntary Following and the Dangers of Greed)
In shadows of ambition, greed whispers deceit,
Hearts once pure tainted with lust's endless beat,
Neglecting the soul's quiet plea, the body's silent cry,
What is profit if mind and spirit die?
Pursuing gold and power, self becomes a stranger,
Lost in a maze of desires, courting danger,
Scriptures warn, "Neglect yourself, lose life's essence,"
Envy and ambition bring chaos, evil's presence.
Yet amidst turmoil, a light shines bright,
The gospel of Jesus, a beacon in the night,
Not calling for forced allegiance,
But inviting, gentle, profound in its brilliance.
Moved, inspired, we follow the good shepherd,
Not from compulsion, but willing, heart-stirred,
True greatness lies in its power to transform,
Stirring souls, igniting flames, keeping hearts warm.
In following Jesus, not from must but love,
We find true fulfillment, peace from above,
A life rich in meaning, hearts at peace,
In voluntary devotion, our burdens cease.
