The Whisper of Greed and the Light of the Gospel #1510

The Whisper of Greed and the Light of the Gospel In the shadows of ambition, greed whispers its deceitful lullaby. Hearts, once pure, now tainted with the lust for more, Neglect the soul’s quiet plea, the body's silent cry. For what is profit if it costs the mind, if it devours the spirit? In the pursuit of gold and power, The self becomes a stranger, lost in a maze of desires. Scriptures echo the warnings: "Neglect yourself, and you neglect the essence of life." Where envy and ambition grow, Chaos follows, like a storm untamed, Bringing with it every evil practice, Sowing seeds of discord in the fertile ground of discontent. Yet, amidst this turmoil, a light shines, The gospel of Jesus Christ, a beacon of hope. Not a call to forced allegiance, But an invitation, gentle and profound, To be moved, to be inspired, to follow the good shepherd, Not out of compulsion, but from the depths of a willing heart. For the true greatness of the gospel lies in its power to transform, To stir the soul, to ignite a flame of voluntary devotion. In following Jesus, not because we must, But because we are moved by love, We find the path to true fulfillment, A life rich in meaning, a heart at peace. Written by Steven G. Lee (May 26, 2024)
