The Shifted Winds of Preaching #1564
The Shifted Winds of Preaching
In days of old, preachers thundered loud,
Against the dark of sin, they boldly vowed.
Sinners, hearts heavy, guilt laid bare,
Ran to the altar, seeking grace in prayer.
Now the winds have shifted, soft and light,
A gentler breeze whispers through the night.
Sermons sweetened, comfort their refrain,
Sinners stroll, unchallenged, to their pews again.
The gospel's power, unyielding and pure,
But messages softened, diluted, unsure.
Hearts unmoved, untouched by fire,
Repentance lost, the spark grows dire.
Cultural tides of self-acceptance rise,
Press upon the pulpit, molding guise.
Theology of comfort fills the seats,
But souls remain in incomplete defeat.
Bias grows towards soothing words,
Affirming whispers, truth deferred.
Congregations seek what feels right,
Shopping for solace, in faith's dim light.
Yet the gospel's path, repentance paves,
Acknowledge sin, embrace grace's waves.
Without this step, salvation fades,
Unchanged hearts in shadowed glades.
Seek we must a bold return,
Preaching that makes the spirit burn.
Confronting sin, igniting hearts,
In repentance, true transformation starts.
Find preachers who challenge, who speak what's true,
Leading us to God's heart anew.
Only then revival's flame will grow,
And true spiritual paths we'll know.
