Subject: Reflections on Justice and Power #1279
Subject: Reflections on Justice and Power
Dear Friends,
In a world where justice is a noble quest,
we stand steadfast, righteousness our constant test.
"Blessed are they who observe justice," it is said,
Who in paths of fairness steadfastly tread.
Yet ideologies shape our sight unseen,
Not mere illusions, but worlds where meanings glean.
Through these lenses, reality bends and sways,
Guiding our steps through life's intricate maze.
Thrasymachus spoke of justice long ago,
As the stronger's advantage, a perennial flow.
Power crafts laws for its shield and spear,
Ensuring the mighty have nothing to fear.
Justice, thus rendered, serves those on high,
While the masses below are left but to comply.
Capitalism, now shaking on gilded limb,
Billionaires fret over prospects grim.
They wield their power, laws to their benefit cast,
But foundations tremble from inequalities vast.
As laws uphold advantage, the ruling creed,
Obedience demanded, the commoners' deed.
Yet as towers stand tall, their bases now stir,
Voices of unrest, a societal blur.
What's justice truly, in this grand design,
When measured by those who dine on the divine?
Dear friends, your thoughts I seek,
On this world of power and the justice we tweak.
Do you see what I see, or perhaps something more?
Let’s discuss this further, open new doors.
Warm regards,
Pastor Steven G. Lee (May 11, 2024)
