Shadows on the Horizon #1127
Shadows on the Horizon
In the weave of our nation's cloth—
Diverse threads twine, tensions soothe—
A tapestry of hope we craft,
Where every voice finds its groove.
Extend the right to raise a hand,
Where long-term guests cast their say,
Reflecting all who tread this land,
In the vibrant democratic fray.
Draw lines of fairness, not of spite,
Where districts fair give voice anew,
Minority lights shining bright,
In elections true and due.
Curtail the gilded hand that sways,
With finance reforms deep and wide,
So diverse voices have their days,
And wealth's shadow steps aside.
Teach our children, bold and clear,
Of democracy's wide embrace—
Of diversity we hold dear,
And the immigrant's vital place.
Convene dialogues, bridge the gaps,
Race and nation in calm discourse,
Shared visions on overlapping maps,
Unity as the endorsed course.
Strengthen laws against the slight,
Of bias in work, home, the street—
Rights for all, in full sunlight,
Equality's mandate to meet.
Ease the path to call this home,
For those who choose to stay,
Let citizenship's doors widely roam,
Inclusion in every way.
And let local powers rise,
To meet the needs of varied kin,
Reflecting under broader skies,
The multitude of lives within.
These changes bold, in heart and deed,
Forge a union truly vast—
A democracy where all can lead,
And build a future meant to last.
