Echoes and Illuminations #1160
Echoes and Illuminations
(Guided by the Word)
In steeples high where scriptures reign,
A lone bright light, the Protestants claim.
The Word aloft, a beacon clear,
In twilight’s grasp, tradition near.
The Bible stands, a pool so still,
Reflects divine, a sovereign will.
Around its edges, softly tread
The ghosts of wisdom, long since said.
They whisper truths, context provide,
Enrich the minds where they reside.
Yet before Scripture, they must bow,
Tested by the Word, here and now.
This realm, so stark, where truth is king,
Holds traditions in a ring—
Cherished, yet beneath the text,
Where sola scriptura casts its next.
Each word a star in belief’s own sky,
Guiding pilgrims wandering by.
Through worldly night, to dawn’s embrace,
In Scripture’s light, they find their place.
