The Path of Servant Hearts: A Poem for the Church Reimagined #206

The Path of Servant Hearts: A Poem for the Church Reimagined In shadowed halls, where echoes blend, Ancient words with souls extend. A call to hearts, in humility dressed, "Do not be leaders," the Nazarene stressed. Where sacred meets secular's demanding gaze, A new path unfolds, through the maze. Servant leaders, with compassion's tears, Washing feet, dispelling fears. Imagine a church, not by spires defined, But by roots deep, through love entwined. Not followers to fill the pews sought, But leaders forged, in Spirit and thought. Gardeners, these leaders, tending to souls, Guiding growth, as the bell tolls. Giving, serving, loving, their creed, In humility's garden, planting the seed. A call for reformation, from the heart it rings, A revolution of love, on dove's wings. Accountability, in community's embrace, Walking together, in Christ's grace. Through the world's wilderness, this path weaves, Not to conquer, but heal, it believes. Radical hospitality, the kingdom's sign, Feeding, clothing, loving, divine. In numbers not measured, this church's growth, But in depth and generosity, it takes the oath. A beacon of hope, in darkness it shines, A future church, where love intertwines. Servant leadership, the vision we claim, A future church, in Jesus' name. Where the greatest are those who serve all, In humility's call, we find our thrall. -Written by Steven G. Lee (February 4, 2024)
