Love Beyond Rituals: A Devotional Ode #169

Love Beyond Rituals: A Devotional Ode In the heart of devotion, a truth so profound, Lies not in the rituals, nor in the sound Of sacrifices, offerings, the Sunday affair, But in love's embrace, a commitment rare. The Bible speaks, its voice clear and bright, "Love over offerings," it proclaims in the light. Mark's verses remind us, a call so divine, To love God wholly, a commandment benign. "And love your neighbor," the scripture implores, "No greater commandment," it heartily endorses. A call to mercy, to empathy's embrace, Over mere compliance, a higher grace. "Desire mercy, not sacrifice," the verses resonate, Challenging believers to love, to relate. To God, to neighbor, an extension of heart, A spiritual practice, a divine art. Through compassion and love, we find our connection, A shift from ritual to relational affection. The ultimate devotion, as scriptures have said, Is in how we love, our hearts widespread. -Written by Steven G. Lee (February 1, 2024)
